About me
Sarah Dollah- Said has been an educator in Illinois for over twenty years in the capacity of a teacher and administrator. This past year, she was named an Illinois Teacher of Excellence. In the 22-23 school year, Sarah decided to go back to the classroom to restore her joy in teaching. She currently serves as an ELL English teacher at Dream Academy, Elgin U-46's Alternative High School. In addition to her role as a teacher, Sarah contributes to the world of education as a Governing Board Member of IDEA, Board Member for the Coalition for Schools Educating Mindfully and she is currently a Policy Fellow for Teach Plus Illinois. You may know Sarah because she is published in multiple spaces such as Edutopia, Learning for Justice, Teaching Channel, Confianza, and Education Week Teacher. Additionally she has been a teacher coach on the national level for Open Up Resources where she supported teachers who did not have access to professional development for their ELA Curriculum. She has also served on the Illinois State Bilingual Council for more than one term. Sarah's skills and expertise shine in supporting language learners in building their English Proficiency. She supports other teachers she works with by helping them plan scaffolds for their language learners.
